Maxwell watch list
The Maxwell Award watch list was just announced. There are a total of 76 players included on the list.
As you know, the Maxwell award is giving out to the top offensive player in the nation. Last year, Tim Tebow aka Mr. Wonderful took home the award.
Timmy is back on the watch list this season along with fellow Gators Percy Harvin and Emmanuel Moody.

West Virginia has been in the headlines most of this off season mainly because of their former coach, and professional bed wetter, Double R. New head coach Bill Stewart just may be the nicest man in America. He has a lot of talent returning to Morgantown for another title run this season. Pat White is back at QB, and Noel Devine should help Mountaineer fans forget all about Steve Slaton.
The top 25 players: PAC-10
Now it's time for me to show some love to the fellas out West.
I must tell you that I had a really hard time coming up with this list. In fact, once I had gotten halfway through compiling the list, I seriously considered doing a Top 25 players from USC list as well as a rest of the PAC-10 list. However, there weren't 25 players from the rest of the PAC-10 to make that feasible. So I just kept it how is.
Here, for your enjoyment, are the top 25 players from the PAC-10.
1.Ray Maualuga - USC LB - I think Maualuga is the best LB n the nation. He might be the best defensive player in the nation, although I think Tennessee's Eric Berry might take that honor.
2. Brian Cushing - USC LB - Back to back USC linebackers to start the countdown. That's not good news for the rest of the conference.
3. Rudy Carpenter - Arizona St. QB - A rare break from USC players. If Carpenter can put together another season like last year, he may be in the running for the Heisman. Of course, the schedule is a little bit tougher for the Sun Devils this time around.
4. Fili Moala - USC DL - Back to USC we go. Moala is a fierce defensive linemen for the Trojans that will compliment Maualuga and Cushing rather nicely.
5. Kevin Ellison - USC DB - How good will USC's defense be this year? That was a rhetorical question, we all know the answer is awesome!
6. Joe McKnight- USC RB - McKnight might not even start for the Trojans this year, but I believe he is the most talented offensive player in the PAC-10.
7. Vidal Hazelton - USC WR - Hazelton has that big play ability that the Trojans seemed to lack at the receiver position last year.
8. Patrick Chung - Oregon DB - A non- USC defensive player makes the list. That's gotta be a typo.
9. Zach Follett - California LB - Cal's offense usually grabs all the attention, however, Follett has quietly become the Golden Bears' best player on either side of the ball.
10. Everson Griffen - USC DL - Griffen is yet another reason why the Trojans may have the best defense in all of college football.
11. Patrick Turner - USC WR - Turner and Hazelton provide a great 1-2 combo at WR for USC. If QB Mark Sanchez can develop fast, this could be a very good offense.
12. Brandon Gibson - Washington St. WR - Gibson may actually be a better receiver than the USC duo. However, the Cougars will have to find a halfway decent QB to get the ball to him.
13 Alex Mack - California OL - Does anybody know whatever happened to the girl that played Alex Mack on Nickelodeon? That show was awesome! (Although it was no Famous Jett Jackson)
14. Taylor Mays - USC DB - So USC has 2 linebackers, 2 defensive linemen, and now 2 defensive backs on the list. Scary!
15. Max Unger - Oregon OL - It's a good thing the Ducks have Unger on the line to protect whichever QB they choose to go with. Hopefully for Oregon, that will alleviate some of the pressure.
16. Mark Sanchez - USC QB - I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm not completely sold on Sanchez. However, being the QB on USC does pretty much get you onto this list automatically.
17. Jake Locker - Washington QB - If Locker can remain healthy for the Huskies, Ty Willingham just may have a job saving, bowl berth season in Seattle.
18. Nick Reed - Oregon DL - Oregon is expected to have a down year this season. I expect the reduction to take place on offense. The Ducks have too many good players on defense like Reed to slip in that department.
19. Dexter Davis - Arizona St. DL - Davis and the rest of the Sun Devil defense will have to play exceptionally well if Arizona St. hopes to have a repeat of last year.
20. Jeremy Perry - Oregon St. OL - The Beavers just might shock a few people this season. I'm not saying they'll compete for the PAC-10 crown, but they will definitely be better.
21. Keegan Herring - Arizona St. RB - With Rudy Carpenter and the Sun Devil passing game putting up astronomical numbers last season, Herring was overlooked. This year, he may be the best PAC-10 running back not on the USC roster.
22. Mike Thomas - Arizona WR - "Money Mike" was the Wildcats go-to guy last season. If they hope to make it to a bowl game and save Mike Stoops' job, Thomas and the offense will have to really step their game up.
23. Sammie Stroughter - Oregon St. WR - Stroughter suffered through a very emotionally tough 2007 campaign. Prior to last year, Stroughter may have been the best WR in the conference. I look for Sammie to bounce back once again this season. Stroughter is also very dangerous as a return man.
24. Stafon Johnson - USC RB - Johnson is expected to get the starting nod at tailback for the Trojans. With McKnight right behind him, I don't know how long he can hold on to that position.
25. Thomas Weber - Arizona St. K - I know, I know, he's a kicker. But he's not just an average kicker. Weber is the best kicker in the nation. With a tougher schedule, his services may become very important to the Sun Devils.

The Most undeserved raise in American history
So if I told you that if you would not meet expectations; fail miserably to achieve all goals set forth; and just plain blow total ass; that you would get a raise, how fast would you take that job?
What if I told you that same scenario was played out in real life? You would probably call me a liar and punch me in the balls.
Well that did happen.
Here's the lucky jackass that induced one of the douche baggiest institutions in America to give his sorry pot-bellied ass a raise:

The top 25 players: Big XII
This looks like it could be a VERY big year for the Big XII. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech all have realistic shots of winning the South. While Kansas, Colorado and Missouri are all looking to win the North.
The Big XII has closed the gap on the SEC for the best conference argument. They are just a Nebraska and Kansas St. surprise season away from being mentioned in the same breath.
Here are my top 25 players from the Big XII conference:
1. Michael Crabtree - Texas Tech WR- Crabtree won the Biletnikoff award last season as a Freshman. Expectations are high for the super soph and his Red Raiders. We'll see if he can repeat last season's successes.
2. Chase Daniel - Missouri QB - Daniel was a Heisman trophy finalist last season. He should be competing with Tebow and others to once again make the trip to New York at the end of the season.
3. Sam Bradford - Oklahoma QB - I have said all along that I felt like Bradford had the best argument against Tebow last season for the Heisman. If he plays like he did last year, Bradford should be a finalist for the award this season.
4. Graham Harrell - Texas Tech QB - Harrell will once again put up some pretty impressive numbers in Lubbock. Once again, however, no one will give him any respect.
5. Auston English - Oklahoma DL - There is always a great Sooner defensive linemen. It's English's turn to take that role.
6. George Hypolite - Colorado DL - I think Hypolite might be my favorite defensive player in the Big XII. The guy has a non-stop motor and he plays with all heart. Like Rod Tidwell said, "Heart? I'm all heart mother f***er!"
7. Duke Robinson - Oklahoma OL - Robinson might be the biggest player in the Big XII. Imagine the battles he must have with Auston English during Sooner practices.
8. DeMarco Murray - Oklahoma RB - Another Sooner makes my top 10. No wonder why I have them in the BCS title game this year......
9. Sean Weatherspoon - Missouri LB - It's not all about the offense at Missouri. The Tigers boast a pretty good defense too, led by Weatherspoon.

14. Nic Harris - Oklahoma DB - It's a shame Bob Stoops can't win a bowl game anymore. He has a ton of talent to work with in Norman.

20. Quan Cosby - Texas WR - Texas may not have as much talent on the offensive side of the ball as they're used to, but Cosby is a gem at wide out.
21. Joe Mortensen - Kansas LB - Mortensen is the heart and soul of a very underrated, but tough Jayhawk defense.
22. Zac Robinson - Oklahoma St. QB - Robinson broke all kinds of Cowboy records last season. He just needs to learn how to win on a consistent basis.
23. Brian Orakpo - Texas DL - A lot of people in Austin are clamoring over Orakpo's performance. He clearly has not lived up to his expectations at Texas, but talent alone gets him on this list.
24. Phil Loadholt - Oklahoma OL - I had to squeeze one more Sooner onto the list before it was all said and done. Loadholt doesn't get the pub he deserves, mainly because he shares the line with Duke Robinson.
25. Dez Bryant - Oklahoma St. WR - Bryant was one of the reasons why QB Zac Robinson was able to have such a tremendous season last year. Oklahoma St. will once again feature a very prolific offense, and Bryant will be a big part of it.

Arizona St. was definitely one of the surprise teams in college football last season. Dennis Erickson had his Sun Devils firing on all cylinders for much of last season. Unfortunately, ASU did not get a BCS bid and they had to settle for the Holiday Bowl. The Sun Devils then went on to get dismantled by the Texas Longhorns in said bowl. There are high expectation in the desert this year. We'll see if the Sun Devils can live up to them.

The top 25 players: SEC
I have to find a new way to pass the time before the CFB season actually starts. What better way to do so than to list the top 25 players from every conference.
I'll do a conference a day until I break down all 1-a conferences.
Of course, I will be starting things off with the greatest thing to hit CFB since JoePa's broken leg: The SEC.
1.Tim Tebow - QB Florida- Of course the reigning Heisman trophy winner would get the number one spot. Who in the SEC could be better than the best player in the land?
2. Percy Harvin - WR Florida- I had a tough choice between Harvin and Knowshon Moreno. I went with Harvin because of his versatility. He is dangerous in the open field, and is among the fastest players in the nation.
3. Knowshon Moreno - RB Georgia - Again, Moreno could have easily been the number 2 player behind Tebow on this list. If Moreno could develop more as a pass catcher coming out of the backfield, we may have back to back Sophomore Heisman trophy winners.
4. Eric Berry - DB Tennessee - Eric Berry is the best defensive player in the SEC. He may be the best defensive player in the nation. If the Vols hope to make it back to the SEC title game, they will need to rely on Berry and their defense.
5. Greg Hardy- DL Ole Miss - Often overlooked because he plays for the woeful Rebels, Greg Hardy has consistently been one of the better defensive linemen in the nation.
6.Michael Oher - OL Ole Miss- Working against Hardy in practice has enabled Oher to take on all opposing pass rushers in the SEC. He's my choice as the top offensive lineman in the conference.
7. Matthew Stafford - QB Georgia- I have a feeling that this spot may be a little too generous for Stafford. However, he is the QB for the team that is expected to win it all. If he can build upon last year's success, Stafford could be moving up.
8. Brandon LaFell - WR LSU- LaFell will be hindered by the QB situation in Baton Rouge. Whoever Les Miles calls on will have one of the better receivers to throw to in Brandon.
9. Captain Munnerlyn - DB South Carolina- Munnerlyn is a straight up play maker for this Gamecocks defense. Who would have ever thought that a Steve Spurrier coached team would be stronger on the defensive side of the ball?
10. Brandon Spikes- LB Florida- Spikes is a candidate for the Bronko Nagurski award this season. He is a consensus pick to be the top LB in a very good SEC class.
11. Anthony Dixon - RB Mississippi St. - There's just something about Anthony Dixon that I really like. His running style is a thing of beauty. He might be my favorite non-Gator player in the nation.
12. Andre Smith - OL Alabama - Smith is HUGE. Of all the players listed on here, Smith may have the best NFL potential.
13. Keiland Williams - RB LSU - Williams may lose a little bit of his touches this season to speedster Trindon Holliday, but he is still among the best at his position.
14. Jonathan Luigs - OL Arkansas - Luigs is another top NFL prospect from the SEC West. Now I see why the West always has better ground games than the East.
15. Derek Pegues - DB Mississippi St. - The Bulldog defense should once again be very solid this season. Pegues will be a big reason for that.
16. Jasper Brinkley - LB South Carolina - Brinkley is coming off an injury-plagued season. Before last year he was among the best LB's in the nation. I look for him to return to his old form this year.
17. Ricky Jean-Francois - DL LSU - Francois also missed most of last year for the Bayou Bengals. He did come back in time to play against Ohio St. in the BCS National Championship. Ask any Buckeye fan how good he is.
18. Gino Atkins - DL Georgia- The best defensive player on one of the better defensive units in the nation. If Atkins can stay out of trouble, he will have a monster year.
19. Rolando McClain - LB Alabama - McClain will lead the Tide's defense as they try to climb back to respectability under Nick Saban.
20. Kenny McKinley - WR South Carolina - McKinley has been underrated his whole career in Columbia. With an uncertain QB situation brewing for the Gamecocks, that probably won't change.
21. Cornelius Ingram - TE Florida - Ingram is perhaps the most freakishly athletic player in the conference. I expect (and hope) Ingram will have a huge year for the Gators.
22. Anthony Parker - OL Tennessee - Even when Tennessee struggles, their running game is always good. A big part of that recently has been offensive linemen like Anthony Parker.
23. Jamar Chaney - LB Mississippi St. - Chaney made some of the biggest plays last year from the LB position. Sylvester Croom's defense looks to lead the way for the Bulldogs to make it back to back bowl berths.
24. Rico McCoy - LB Tennessee - I admit I'm still a little skeptical about McCoy. However, Rico has the skill set to be one of the best at his position.
25. Mike Wallace - WR Ole Miss - I really expect big things from Wallace this year. Like McKinley at South Carolina, Wallace has been underrated his entire career.

Baby Gators: Recruiting
Well the Gators have landed another top prospect for the 2009 class. OT Jonnotthan Harrison has committed to play for the University of Florida. Urban Meyer's 2009 class is shaping up rather nicely.

The Purdue Boilermakers may not have the team to win the Big Eleven this season, but they have enough talent to send head coach Joe Tiller out with a bang. Curtis Painter is back for what seems like his 12th season at Purdue. Kory Sheets is also returning to the Boilermakers' backfield. The Purdue defense will once again be solid as usual. Purdue might be able to pull off some upsets this season, perhaps maybe in Columbus......
